In conjunction with the launch of our office incubator, we’re inviting friends from all our Groups to join in the fun. The aim is to see web developers from different teams, iPhone apps developers and freelancers come together and have a chat.

If you are coming over, do take note that you won’t find our address on our official website. We don’t have admin staff that sit around to answer calls either, but what we do have is a better way of handling things. Plus, you’d be interested to know that we don’t have official working hours either!

Elevyn seeks to empower marginalized communities by enabling them to sell their crafts via online stores. Additionally, it’s also a platform for charities and NGO’s to raise funds and awareness on their campaigns.

How does it work?

Everytime an item is sold, 5% get channeled automatically to a Cause that the Shop supports. This ensures that the business benefits not only the seller, but to the local community as a whole. Elevyn itself takes 5% for operational funds, with the rest going back to the seller.

Who are we?

My name is Mike Tee, and together with Devan Singaram, we received a grant from the MDEC Pre-seed Fund Programme to develop the project. The project is also a finalist in the recent Youth Social Entrepreneurship Initiative (YSEI 2008)

Founded by Mike and Melvin, Density Professional team up with Daven of iFuzion Interactive to start the Big Satellite project. It intends to provide a platform to educate, inspire and connect Social Entrepreneurs. The Web Developer Alliance concept is conceived in the early days of 2007. The objective of WDA is simple – we would like to explore further business opportunities with you.

And to turn these business opportunities into successful ventures, we believe a mutually beneficial relationship with all our allies is of utmost importance.

WDA’s Objectives

With the encouraging sign ups in the past few weeks, the WDA would like to share with her members on the key objectives that will move the WDA in the right direction in the web development industry.

1. Categories & Skills

The first objective the WDA would like to achieve is to categorize the members’ skillsets and to focus on marketing these skills to potential clients.

2. Infrastructure and Internal Tech

The WDA recognizes that members already have pre-existing infrastructure and is already serving their existing customers. To move forward, WDA would like to assist the members by streamlining their infrastructure and thereby use proven marketing techniques to improve members online presence and marketability.

3. Project Awarding

Members of the WDA will be awarded projects from time to time to put their expertise and infrastructure to practical use. It’s hoped that from these projects, the members will gain more experience and can increase their profit margin from these projects. The awards will be distributed according to the disciplines of each members.

4. Online Biz

The WDA is also constantly exploring new online business ventures. Members who expressed interest and has a good track record will be considered for possible joint-ventures in future ventures.

Business is really keeping our in-house team very busy and the new enquiries hasn’t stop coming in. It’s a good idea to go on a hiring spree, but somehow, quoting the Brooks’ Law, one of the principles explained in the book Mythical Man Month, adding more people to the project doesn’t necessarily help, in fact, it might even jeopardize existing projects.

So to avoid any such issues, and to ensure our team focuses on existing deliverables, we are now looking at partnering with web design companies who can play a strategic role together.
